The annual "Battle of the Cohorts" sports event at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) wrapped up in thrilling fashion, crowning Year 3 as the 2024 champions.
While only football, basketball, and volleyball took center stage this year, the intensity and talent showcased on the court left spectators cheering every step of the way.
Volleyball:
The opening matches saw intense competition, with the Year 4s and Year 1s battling it out in volleyball. After a close first set, Year 4 dominated the second and third sets, showcasing their skills and composure.
Year 2 and Year 3 also brought the heat, with a nail-biting match that went down to the wire. Ultimately, Year 2 emerged victorious in the volleyball finals, claiming the gold medal with impressive scores.
Basketball:
The girls' basketball court was ablaze with passion and determination as Year 1 and Year 4 faced off in the finals. The tension was palpable, and after a back-and-forth battle, Year 1 clinched the victory in a nerve-wracking 31:18 game.
The boys' final was equally exciting, with Year 3 edging out Year 2 with a close 21-24 score. Year 4 also displayed their dominance, defeating the Year 2 with a decisive 74-61 score.
Football:
The highlight of the tournament came in the football final, where Year 3 and Year 4 clashed in a fierce battle for the ultimate crown. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, ending in a 1-1 tie after regulation time.
The penalty shootout kept everyone on the edge of their seats, with Year 3 holding their nerve to convert the final penalty and secure the victory.
