On Monday, the students of the Pan-Atlantic University began the week-long process of electing new course representatives in their different classes.
The course representative serves as a first point of contact for students, as they take their views to the attention of the staff on the course or program. This makes it a very important role to the students of PAU and their needs concerning their courses.
The PAU students in each class nominate candidates for both the positions of course representative and assistant course representative; they then vote using ballot papers.
This election is conducted in classrooms and supervised by a student affairs representative.
The most recent election took place on Wednesday in the Zaria classroom for the mass communication 300-level students.
The election was carried out seamlessly, with Nkeiruka Ezekwere as the new course representative and Doyinsola Oyedele as the new assistant course representative.
“I will do my best to be a responsible course representative,” said Ezekwere after winning the elections. "I will assist you as much as you need me,” said Oyedele in response to the Ezekwere declaration.
At the university, a new course representative and assistant are elected every academic session.
